Tasks
- The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field of clinical psychology and
psychotherapy
Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Section 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
- Manage the day clinic based at the university offering behavioral psychotherapy (Hochschulambulanz) and promote research activities there.
- Cover teaching across the entire field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy in the master’s degree program M.Sc. Psychology with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy and the bachelor’s degree program B.Sc. Psychology in conjunction with their colleagues in the area, with a focus on university teaching pursuant to Section 8 of the German Regulations for Licensing Psychotherapists (Approbationsordnung für Psychotherapeutinnen und Psychotherapeuten, PsychThApprO).
- Promote a variety of approaches in psychotherapy.
- Contribute toward further developing degree programs in psychology.
- Establish a new research area at the interface of clinical psychology and health promotion.
- Close cooperation and willingness to connect with Clinical Psychological Intervention and Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Psychotherapy divisions within the Department of Education and Psychology.
- Interdisciplinary approach to working with further areas within the department, with other departments at Freie Universität Berlin, and with other institutions within the Berlin University Alliance.
- Participate in and initiate joint research projects (such as with the German Center for Mental Health, DZPG).
- Support transparent and replicable research (open science).
- Engage with gender and diversity issues relevant to their field as part of their teaching, research, and administrative duties.
Requirements
Appointment requirements:
- Governed by Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz – BerIHG).
Additional requirements for the appointment include:
- License to practice as a psychological psychotherapist with a specialization in behavioral therapy
- Qualified to act as a supervisor
- An excellent record of research activities in the field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy for adults with at least one of the following focuses as demonstrated through relevant publications:
- Empirical and experimental studies on psychological disorders and adaptive processes
- Psychotherapy process and outcome research
- Recent developments in approaches to psychotherapeutic treatment
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Prevention
- Dissemination and implementation research
- Mechanism-based modularized psychotherapy
- Social and demographic factors in the emergence of psychological disorders and their persistence (e.g., women’s health, poverty)
- Experience in the acquisition and implementation of competitive externally funded research projects would be an asset
- Teaching experience at the university level, including international teaching experience where possible
- Ideally, experience in management and leadership
