Your responsibility

  • You will conduct teaching amounting to 9 semester hours (SWS), especially in the bachelor's programs in Industrial Engineering and Management; Economics and Sustainability; and Sustainable Management, as well as in the master's programs in Industrial Engineering and Management; Economics and Sustainability; and Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability. Courses will be held in German and in English.
  • Your research fields in the subject area include
    o Macroeconomics of technological progress and
    o Macroeconomics of sustainable development in economic, ecological, and social terms.
  • Methodologically, the work group of macroeconomics uses modern and recognized quantitative methods of economics, employing mathematical-theoretical methods (DSGE and CGE models, game theory, and behavioral economics) and empirical-statistical methods (statistics, econometrics, and experiments).
  • You will head a renowned group and work closely with other departments in the field of economics and the Berlin School of Economics.
  • You will offer and supervise research assignments for bachelor and master theses and doctoral dissertations.
  • You will acquire and manage third-party funded projects and publish your research findings in leading international peer-reviewed economics journals.
  • You will promote
    o women and societal diversity, committing to gender- and diversity-sensitive practices,
    o knowledge and technology transfer.
  • You will engage in committee and commission work.

Your profile

  • The hiring requirements according to § 100 ff. BerlHG must be fulfilled. These include
    o a completed, relevant university degree with a specialization in disciplines relevant to macroeconomics,
    o special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral degree,
    o additional academic achievements, e.g. a positively evaluated junior professorship, habilitation, or equivalent qualifications,
    o teaching aptitude, demonstrated through your teaching portfolio (see https://www.tu.berlin/go209650/).
  • In-depth academic knowledge in the field of macroeconomics, preferably in the two aforementioned research fields, as demonstrated by publications (peer-reviewed) in leading international journals of economics, is essential.
  • Several years of subject-specific teaching experience in macroeconomics is required.
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding, preferably DFG (German Research Foundation) funding, is welcome.
  • As an internationally oriented university, we expect the ability to teach in both German and English, or the willingness to acquire the necessary language skills within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration, science communication, and knowledge transfer is desirable, as is
  • experience in promoting junior researchers.
