Your responsibility
We are looking for competent support (T cell immunology and/or molular biology or bioinformatics). The group of Alexander Scheffold has a particular interest in T cell mediated regulation of immune responses and tolerance. Specifically we study antigen-specific T cell responses in humans using single cell sequencing and in vitro functional tests (Saggau et al lmmunity. 2024;57(10):2416, Saggau et al lmmunity. 2022; 55(10):1924, Bacher et al Cell 2016 167(4):1067) and the molecular regulation of T cell tolerance and anti-inflammatory functions (e.g. Ahlers et al. Mucosal lmmunol. 2022 Mar;15(3):480-490).
The successful applicant will work on the functional and molecular analysis of autoreactive T cells especially antigen-specific human regulatory T cells in type 1 diabetes (T1 D) and on the identification of therapeutically relevant TCRs. The technological focus is on flow-cytometry, single cell sequencing, cell biology. The project is part of the EU-funded project ARTiDe, aiming at the development of insulin-specific regulatory T cells as a cellular therapy for T1 D.
Your profile
- successfully completed academic degree and PhD (Master's, Diploma or equivalent) in immunology, molecular life sciences, bioinformatics or similar
- extensive experience with the analysis of regulatory T cells and T cell immunology is required
- similarly experience with one of the following topis is essential: in vitro T cell culture and T cell functionality assays, multiparameter flow-cytometry and cell separation technologies, single cell sequencing and/or bioinformatics experience
- good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
- high motivation for an exciting project and the ability to work independently is desired
- excellent organisation, communication and presentation skills (english) and the ability to interact and cooperate within a heterogeneous scientific environment are desirable
