Full Professorship (W3) for Empirical Research in Education
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Institute of Education Studies, invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for Empirical Research in Education starting as soon as possible.
Tasks
The professorship is intended to conduct and teach empirical educational research. In the field of research, the professorship shall cover relevant content and methodological priorities, such as data-supported quality development in the education system, analysis of teaching and learning processes, effects of educational contexts, development and testing of evidence-based interventions, or cognitive and motivational-volitional development of students. Teaching duties will be in the education degree programmes (BA/MA, both as a major or minor subject) and in the education research components of teacher training programmes. In this context, the future holder of the position will be specifically responsible for the area of quantitative methods training.
Excellent, internationally visible research activities in empirical educational research are expected, including the successful acquisition of third-party funding, publications in leading national and international peer-reviewed journals, as well as national and international collaborations.
Requirements
Prerequisites for appointment are a relevant university degree, an outstanding doctorate, a “habilitation” or equivalent qualifications, as well as pedagogical aptitude demonstrated by independent teaching experience, the quality of which has been verified by evaluations or other means.
In addition, a willingness to cooperate within the Institute of Education Studies as well as with the Professional School of Education (PSE), the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM) and the Institute for Quality Development in Education (IQB) is expected.
Applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the “Berliner Hochschulgesetz”.
