Research Assistant - 0.5 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Tasks

The Integrated Transport Planning Group is concerned with the intermodal aspects of transportation and the interactions between transportation, society, technology, eco-nomy, environment and politics. The aim is to develop concepts for designing mobility that sustainably shapes economic cycles and social participation by avoiding traffic wherever possible, reducing negative consequences and handling necessary traffic in a resource-saving manner.

The project KLAR: erKennbare und Lesbare Auto- und Radinfrastruktur aims to examine the compre-hensibility of urban traffic infrastructure from the perspective of both cyclists and motorists. To do this, motorists and cyclists will move through virtual traffic situations in a simulator at the same time and will be interviewed afterwards. The aim is to gain in-sights into how cycling infrastructure must be designed so that it is perceived as understandable by cyclists and motorists.

Responsibilities:

  • Project implementation, in particular recruitment of test participants, creation of traffic infrastructure designs for the simulation, preparation, implementation and evaluation of qualitative interviews, general project management
  • Representation of the field at scientific conferences and public events

Requirements

  • successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in transportation, psychology, human factors or comparable
  • knowledge of (integrated) transport planning or bicycle traffic planning or the application of qualitative survey and evaluation methods or an interest in acquiring them
  • good command of German and/or English required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected

Desirable:

  • knowledge of web design and/or the integration and use of Open Street Map in websites
  • experience in working in interdisciplinary teams
  • organizational and communication skills
  • ability to work independently, systematically and reliably
  • ability to work in a team
