The Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, invites applications for a Junior Professorship (W1 with Tenure Track W2) for ‘Early Modern Philosophy from 1 October 2025.

Junior Professorship (W1 with Tenure Track W2) for ‘Early Modern Philosophy’

Tasks

The holder of the position is expected to cover the field of early modern philosophy in research and teaching (AOS: early modern philosophy of mind). The qualifications include an outstanding dissertation and research projects in that field as well as excellent teaching abilities. Teaching is required in all the courses of study offered by the department.

This is a W2 tenure track position. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than five years of service. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teach, as well as be active on various university committees, in promotion of young scientists and acquire leadership and management skills. The concrete requirements out of the framework catalogue (https://hu.berlin/tenuretrack_katalog) will be specified in the course of the appointment process.

Requirements

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in conjunction with § 102c combined with § 102a of the ‘Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
