Full Pro­fess­or­ship for „His­tory of Ger­man Lan­guage: Lan­guage Change“ (W3)

from 1 April 2022.

Work­ing field:

The pro­fess­or­ship rep­res­ents the his­tory of Ger­man lan­guage with spe­cial emphasis on pro­cesses of lan­guage change in research and teach­ing and is inter­na­tion­ally recog­nized in research on that topic with both the­or­et­ical and empir­ical ori­ent­a­tion. The to-be-appoin­ted can­did­ate will rep­res­ent these areas in the study pro­grams of the B.A. Ger­man Lin­guist­ics, B.A. His­tor­ical Lin­guist­ics, B.A. Ger­man, M.A. Lin­guist­ics, M.A. His­tor­ical Lin­guist­ics and in ment­or­ing young research­ers. Par­ti­cip­a­tion in the SFB 1412 (Col­lab­or­at­ive Research Cen­ter) "Register" ( is expec­ted. Great import­ance is attached to the can­did­ate’s abil­ity to con­trib­ute to the SFB as well as to cooper­ate with the lin­guistic pro­fess­ors of the insti­tute, the fac­ulty and the Leib­niz-Centre Gen­eral Lin­guist­ics (ZAS,

The applic­ants must meet the legal require­ments for pro­fess­or­ial appoint­ments in accord­ance with § 100 of ’Ber­liner Hoch­schul­ge­setz’.
