The pro­fess­or­ship for Archi­tec­ture and Struc­tural Design is respons­ible for teach­ing basic struc­tural design and dimen­sion­ing and, in cooper­a­tion with the aca­demic chairs in the area of design, is a stand­ard bearer for the pro­ject-ori­ented teach­ing concept of the Insti­tute of Archi­tec­ture (Ber­lin Model, Design-Build). In the field of research, the Chair of Archi­tec­ture and Struc­tural Design will pro­to­type new struc­tural solu­tions for an archi­tec­ture that is increas­ingly geared towards adapt­ab­il­ity, sus­tain­ab­il­ity and digit­iz­a­tion (Industry 4.0). The pro­fess­or­ship will develop reg­u­lar con­tact to other fields of know­ledge, soci­ety and industry.
Suc­cess­ful applic­ants are expec­ted to con­trib­ute act­ively to the devel­op­ment of the key research areas of TU Ber­lin and to par­ti­cip­ate in the fac­ulty’s teach­ing cur­riculum.

We are look­ing for a uni­versity-trained civil engin­eer with a high level of affin­ity to archi­tec­ture, or another uni­versity-qual­i­fied per­son with a high level of affin­ity to archi­tec­ture, who is act­ively work­ing in civil engin­eer­ing. Suc­cess­ful applic­ants are expec­ted to pos­sess rel­ev­ant sci­entific achieve­ments in the field of struc­tural engin­eer­ing / struc­tural design and have worked on out­stand­ing pro­jects in this field. A capa­city for inter­dis­cip­lin­ary team­work and a will­ing­ness to par­ti­cip­ate in aca­demic self-gov­ern­ment is expec­ted.

Applic­ants must qual­ify for appoint­ment in accord­ance with the require­ments of Sec­tion 100 of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act (Ber­lHG). These entail a teach­ing port­fo­lio (you can obtain more detailed inform­a­tion con­cern­ing this on the TUB homepage, quick access 144242).

Applic­ants must be able to con­duct teach­ing in Ger­man and Eng­lish. The requis­ite lan­guage skills were determ­ined by the Aca­demic Sen­ate in its decision on lan­guage policy of 16.5.2018 (TUB web­site quick access 210868). Suc­cess­ful applic­ants are able to respons­ibly dir­ect a chair/depart­ment, sup­port junior schol­ars and deal effect­ively with issues relat­ing to gender and diversity.

Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin is seek­ing to increase the pro­por­tion of women in research and teach­ing and act­ively encour­ages applic­a­tions from suit­ably qual­i­fied female can­did­ates.
