Plasma-astrophysical numerical simulations to understand solar and pulsar radiosignals
The work will be carried out in the framework of the GACR-DFG (Czech-German) research project: “Understanding modern radioastronomical observations via advanced plasma simulations” funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)
Kinetic plasma simulations of magnetic reconnection and electron acceleration causing solar and pulsar the radio emissions
Close collaboration with the Observatory Ondrejov (Czech Republic) for large-scale MHD simulations and radio-observations by the LOFAR and ALMA telescopes
PhD thesis preparation is possible
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in physics, preferably in astrophysics and/or plasma physics
Knowledge of programming languages (Phyton, C, Fortran ...)
Language proficiency: good command of German and/or English (oral and written) required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected
Astrophysical and plasma-physical knowledge
Enthusiasm about learning and doing research in plasma astrophysics by means of computer simulations using codes, programs and diagnostic tools written in C and Python
Abil¬ity to work in a team, the Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, the SMART group of the TU Berlin, the international collaboration
