Uni­versity Pro­fessor – salary grade W3

for the Chair of “Build­ing Phys­ics”.

Work­ing field:

The pos­i­tion holder shall con­duct teach­ing and research in the area of build­ing phys­ics accord­ing to engin­eer­ing sci­ence. The Chair is incor­por­ated into the Insti­tute of Civil Engin­eer­ing. Teach­ing require­ments are primar­ily in the bach­elor’s and mas­ter’s civil engin­eer­ing pro­grams.


Ful­fill­ment of the appoint­ment require­ments pur­su­ant to Sec­tion 100 of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act (Ber­liner Hoch­schul­ge­setz - Ber­lHG), includ­ing a com­pleted uni­versity degree (prefer­ably in an engin­eer­ing dis­cip­line), aca­demic achieve­ments (doc­tor­ate), a Habil­it­a­tion or equi­val­ent achieve­ments (e.g. fur­ther aca­demic pub­lic­a­tions), as well as an aptitude for teach­ing demon­strated by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (fur­ther inform­a­tion avail­able on TUB web­site, quick access 144242). Applic­ants must be able to con­duct teach­ing in Ger­man and Eng­lish. The requis­ite lan­guage skills were determ­ined by the Aca­demic Sen­ate in its decision on lan­guage policy of 16.5.2018.
The pos­i­tion holder is expec­ted to
  • pos­sess super­ior tech­nical and meth­od­o­lo­gical skills, par­tic­u­larly regard­ing exper­i­mental meth­ods and sim­u­la­tion, as well as prac­tical exper­i­ence in the areas of build­ing phys­ics and build­ing con­struc­tions,
  • pos­sess exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and man­age­ment of extern­ally fun­ded pro­jects,
  • act­ively con­trib­ute to TU Ber­lin’s key areas of research and engage in aca­demic self-man­age­ment.

In addi­tion to the duties estab­lished in Sec­tion 99 of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act, applic­ants are expec­ted to pos­sess the abil­ity to lead staff in the advance­ment of junior schol­ars and women as well as in the area of gender & diversity.

It would be desir­able if the train­ing rehearsal were held in Ger­man.
