As a research assistant at the Chair of Handling and Assembly Technology, you stand for a value stream analysis in manufacturing. The focus of the chair is resource planning, flexible assembly automation and the process-oriented development and establishment of technological an organisational improvement.
The team is currently looking for support in the area of data analysis in a research project with several industrial and research partners. The project deals with used products which are returned and need to be identified and evaluated. The aim is to support employees with digital assistance systems in real time. The system should analyse available data to provide decision support and to reduce error rates and lead times.
You will be responsible for the achievement of scientific goals and the organisation of the project. Therefore, you communicate with project partners and sponsors, define deliverables and work to achieve them.
From a manufacturing engineering perspective, you develop a concept for better product identification by a worker based on available system information. You implement and test this concept at some workstations of the industrial partners. With your experience in the area of human-system interfaces, you will contribute to design a user-friendly and easily configurable system. You will represent the project and the chair regionally and internationally in order to disseminate the project results. As a valuable member you will actively lead to the further development of the chair based on your personality, know-how and experience.
successfully completed university degree (Master, Diploma or equivalent) in production technology or mechanical engineering with production-related focus
knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning or a related field
experiences in designing assistance for predefined and complex tasks that can be adjusted to the users knowledge and experience
experience in prototypical implementation and supervision of experimental test-beds
knowledge in sustainable manufacturing, especially reverse logistics are desired
willing to intensely participate in further development of the research area at the department
proactive learner and maker mentality combined with design thinking skills
high level of ability for self-organization and taking responsibility
motivated approach to work
high ability to communicate and work in teams
good German and English language skills
adequate scientific language and strong presentation skills
