W2-S-Professorship for „Urbane Mobility“

Working field:

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Geography, in joint appointment with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) invites applications for a W2-S-Professorship for „Urbane Mobility“ from as soon as possible.

The chair is associated with the full-time position as Head of the Department of Mobility and Urban Development at the DLR Institute of Transport Research. The joint appointment is intended to deepen the cooperation between the Institute of Transport Research and the Department of Geography at Humboldt-Universität. Further networking with education and research institutions in Berlin is desired.

Requirements:

The chair deals with questions of mobility and traffic, especially in urban areas. We are looking for a person with a sound knowledge of spatial dimensions of mobility needs, travel behavior and transport development. The research focus should emphasize the geographical and social context of mobility. The position requires experience with modern methods of quantitative and qualitative empirical data analysis and, desirably, with simulation methods. Management skills – including personnel management – and extensive experience in attracting and managing third-party funded projects are essential. The professorship includes a teaching engagement of two semester hours in human geography at the Department of Geography. It is expected that the chair will contribute to the research work and academic self-administration of the department of Geography at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin.

Applicants must meet the requirements for appointment as professor in accordance with § 100 of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz´.
