Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty III - Institute of Energy Technology / Building Energy Systems

Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

under the reserve that funds are granted - part-time employment may be possible

Working field:

Collaboration in the research project "HotFlAd" (Compact-RZ with Hot-Fluid-Adsorption-Cooling-System). The overall objective of the project is to demonstrate an innovative, largely climate-neutral cooling concept based on the use of waste heat from IT components in the building.
An existing research computer centre will be rebuilt, a cooling system set up and equipped with measurement, control and regulation technology. Subsequently, a control algorithm is developed and the overall system is measured and optimised. After successful testing, it is applied in a real environment. PhD thesis preparation is possible.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) preferably in building energy engineering, measurement and control engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering or similar
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
  • Very good Linux knowledge
  • Very good programming skills (ideal Python)
  • Very good knowledge of measurement, control and regulation technology
  • Experience in project management
  • Very good knowledge in data analysis and processing
  • Very good PC skills (hardware and software)
  • Team and organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken German
Preferable:
  • Knowledge of network technology
  • Knowledge of the control SPS, Modbus or OPC UA
  • Experience in setting up and implementing an energy monitoring system
  • Experience in the field of operational optimization
  • Flexibility; interest in new challenges
  • Good command of English
