The area of responsibility essentially comprises two sub-aspects. The first one is to carry out the exercise for the course "turbulence and flow control" including the supervision of the students and all administrative tasks related to the course.
The second aspect includes research in the field of biogas combustion. In the gasification of biomaterials partly extremely low calorific fuels with high inert gas fractions arise. The challenge here is to achieve a high combustion efficiency. In addition, the gas may contain tar and ammonia, which may lead to a high concentration of nitrogen oxides and unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas. In order to turn this biogas into a regenerative energy source, it is necessary to develop a combustion system that ensures highly efficient, low-emission combustion in a gas turbine despite the above-mentioned fuel components. The development of such a combustion chamber as well as the thermodynamic modeling of the entire system are the focus of the scientific activity and should be completed with a doctorate.
successfully completed university degree in engineering studies (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in physical engineering, process engineering, aerospace, etc.
experience in the operation of combustion test benches
basic knowledge of combustion kinetics, emission generation and flow diagnostics
experience in thermodynamic system modeling
communication skills, experience in teamwork, excellent knowledge of German and English
