Junior Professorship in Quantitative Business Administration

starting 01 April 2022. This is a W3 tenure track position. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than five years of service. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teach, as well as be active on various university committees, in promotion of young scientists and acquire leadership and management skills. The concrete requirements out of the framework catalogue [] will be specified in the course of the appointment process.

The professorship conducts research and teaching in quantitative business administration. In teaching it is expected to contribute to the bachelor, master and PhD programs of the School of Business and Economics. This includes the teaching of mathematical core courses in the respective programs; the appointee will be responsible for the core courses Mathematics I and II in the bachelor’s program. It is expected that the appointee will offer the mentioned courses independently upon entering the tenure track phase.

The research should focus on business administration based on mathematical methods and/or techniques from the field of data science. For example, quantitative research in the area of supply chain management, logistics, or CRM management or operations research/analytics would be conceivable. It is expected that research will be published in international top journals. Moreover, a cooperation with members of the School of Business and Economics in the context of research projects is requested.

The School of Business and Economics attaches great importance to pedagogical commitment and active participation in the acquisition of third-party funds as well as university committees.
The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in conjunction with § 102c combined with § 102a of the ‘Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
