The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary and international team at the Department of Health Care Management. The department's research focuses on health systems, health services research, health economics, health technology assessment, and global health. The department is closely connected to international organizations as well as academic and industrial partners in Germany, Europe and beyond. Pursuing a PhD is also possible.

The goal of the PROMoting Quality project, coordinated by the department, is to use the patient-centred survey instrument of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to assess the patient perspective. The evaluation will show whether patients followed up with PROMs receive better care and are more satisfied than patients in the control group at the end of the study. The analyses also examine whether the intervention is more cost-effective and estimate the effects of applying this new form of care nationwide. By linking the PROM surveys results to routine health insurance data, the benefits of different treatments to patients can be assessed.

Work­ing field:

The specific job tasks include the following primary duties
  • Data Management and quantitative data evaluation
  • Literature research on the topic "Composite Measure"
  • Support and participation in organizing project meetings with the organization of project meetings, especially with the evaluator
  • Preparation to publish project results


  • A successfully completed academic university degree (state examination, master's degree, diploma or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the project, e.g. in medicine, nursing sciences, public health, health sciences, is required
  • A high degree of organizational and communication skills; ability to work in a team; high flexibility, ability to work under pressure and to act independently and on one's responsibility is required
  • Knowledge of the structure and actors of the German health care system is expected
  • Prior experience in developing a "composite measure" (consisting of various data such as PROMs and routine data) is necessarily needed to support project evaluation
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical methods, econometrics and the use of one of the common statistical programs (preferably R or Stata), as well as the willingness to expand this knowledge, is required
  • A very good command of the German and English language is required
Additional abilities considered an asset
  • Experience in writing scientific publications is considered a distinct asset
  • Experience with (quantitative) health service research is desirable
