Working field:
The position requires research and teaching in the area of the fundamentals, methods and applications of Speech Communication Science with a focus on speech effects research, signal processing, phonetics, acoustics, human-machine communication, speech production and reception, speech synthesis, pathological changes in voice and hearing, and signal-based artificial intelligence. Teaching will be required in the study programs "Culture and Technology" with the core subject "Language and Communication" (BA) and "Language and Communication" (MA) and "Audio Communication" (MSc). Furthermore, candidates are expected to supervise students’ thesis on Bachelor, Master and PhD level as well as to participate in the academic administration of the university.
Requirements:
Fulfillment of the appointment requirements pursuant to Section 100 ff. of the Berlin Higher Education Act. In particular, this includes a university degree in relevant disciplines (e.g. phonetics/speech and hearing sciences, telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer science, acoustics), pedagogical qualifications, a strong aptitude for research demonstrated, as a rule, by a doctorate and additional academic achievements. Influential and trendsetting research achievements are documented by publications in internationally visible peer reviewed journals, and substantial success in raising third party funding (over the last five years). Substantial pedagogical didactic qualifications are demonstrated by university level teaching and supervision experience and complemented by a teaching portfolio (for further information see the TUB homepage:

In particular, experience from interdisciplinary collaborations in the aforementioned areas is desired. The willingness and ability to take on teaching in German and English is required. Experience in leading larger working groups is desired. The ability to lead and manage a department and its staff, the ability to promote junior staff, as well as gender and diversity competence and active commitment to knowledge and technology transfer as well as science communication are required.
