The pos­i­tion requires research and teach­ing in the area of the fun­da­ment­als, meth­ods and applic­a­tions of Speech Com­mu­nic­a­tion Sci­ence with a focus on speech effects research, sig­nal pro­cessing, phon­et­ics, acous­tics, human-machine com­mu­nic­a­tion, speech pro­duc­tion and recep­tion, speech syn­thesis, patho­lo­gical changes in voice and hear­ing, and sig­nal-based arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence. Teach­ing will be required in the study pro­grams "Cul­ture and Tech­no­logy" with the core sub­ject "Lan­guage and Com­mu­nic­a­tion" (BA) and "Lan­guage and Com­mu­nic­a­tion" (MA) and "Audio Com­mu­nic­a­tion" (MSc). Fur­ther­more, can­did­ates are expec­ted to super­vise stu­dents’ thesis on Bach­elor, Mas­ter and PhD level as well as to par­ti­cip­ate in the aca­demic admin­is­tra­tion of the uni­versity.

Ful­fill­ment of the appoint­ment require­ments pur­su­ant to Sec­tion 100 ff. of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act. In par­tic­u­lar, this includes a uni­versity degree in rel­ev­ant dis­cip­lines (e.g. phon­et­ics/speech and hear­ing sci­ences, tele­com­mu­nic­a­tions, elec­trical engin­eer­ing, com­puter sci­ence, acous­tics), ped­ago­gical qual­i­fic­a­tions, a strong aptitude for research demon­strated, as a rule, by a doc­tor­ate and addi­tional aca­demic achieve­ments. Influ­en­tial and trend­set­ting research achieve­ments are doc­u­mented by pub­lic­a­tions in inter­na­tion­ally vis­ible peer reviewed journ­als, and sub­stan­tial suc­cess in rais­ing third party fund­ing (over the last five years). Sub­stan­tial ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions are demon­strated by uni­versity level teach­ing and super­vi­sion exper­i­ence and com­ple­men­ted by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for fur­ther inform­a­tion see the TUB homepage: https://www.tu-berlin.de/menue/einrichtungen/praesidium/projekte_des_praesidiums/neuberufene/berufungsportal/bewerbung/lehrportfolio/ or quick access 144242). In par­tic­u­lar, exper­i­ence from inter­dis­cip­lin­ary col­lab­or­a­tions in the afore­men­tioned areas is desired. The will­ing­ness and abil­ity to take on teach­ing in Ger­man and Eng­lish is required. Exper­i­ence in lead­ing lar­ger work­ing groups is desired. The abil­ity to lead and man­age a depart­ment and its staff, the abil­ity to pro­mote junior staff, as well as gender and diversity com­pet­ence and act­ive com­mit­ment to know­ledge and tech­no­logy trans­fer as well as sci­ence com­mu­nic­a­tion are required.
