Rese­arch fun­ded by the ERC grant Res­ol­u­tio­Net pro­ject - Resolv­ing the Tussle in the Inter­net: Map­ping, Archi­tec­ture, and Policy Mak­ing (http://www.smaragdakis.net/research/ResolutioNet) at Inter­net Meas­ure­ment and Ana­lysis (IMA, https://www.ima.tu-berlin.de/)

Work­ing field:

The Post­Doc will do advan­ced rese­arch in the areas of Inter­net Meas­ure­ment and Inter­net Sys­tems. Work­ing lan­guage is Eng­lish.
  • Col­lec­tion and ana­lysis of large-scale Inter­net/Web data­sets
  • Rese­arch on secur­ity and pri­vacy issues of net­worked sys­tems and the Inter­net
  • Col­lab­or­a­tion with some of the best rese­arch groups in aca­demia and the Inter­net R&D indus­try in Europe and the US
  • Dis­sem­in­a­tion/pub­lic­a­tion of the rese­arch res­ults at the most com­pet­it­ive inter­na­tio­nal con­fer­ences in the area of Inter­net rese­arch

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­ple­ted uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) and PhD in Com­puter Sci­ence or a clo­sely rela­ted field by the time of appoint­ment is requi­red.
  • A strong back­ground in col­lect­ing and ana­lyz­ing large-scale net­work Inter­net/Web data­sets and/or build­ing net­work sys­tems in the Inter­net is requi­red
  • Can­did­ates must have already dri­ven a (full paper) pub­lic­a­tion that is accep­ted to at least one of the fol­low­ing con­fer­ences: IMC, SIG­COMM, NSDI, CoN­EXT, NDSS, USE­NIX Secur­ity, The Web Con­fer­ence (WWW), PAM.
  • Advan­ced exper­i­ence in Python and net­work pro­to­cols, e.g., DNS, BGP, HTTPS is requi­red
  • Exper­i­ence with data-intens­ive archi­tec­tures like Hadoop and Spark is a plus.
  • Excel­lent oral and writ­ten skills in Eng­lish are requi­red; will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man.
