Design meth­ods as well as digital and ana­logue tech­niques of rep­res­ent­a­tion are core com­pet­ences in land­scape archi­tec­ture, which are sub­ject to con­stant renewal. The future holder of the pos­i­tion teaches in the Bach­elor and Mas­ter courses of land­scape archi­tec­ture, but also in "Eco­logy and Envi-ron­mental Plan­ning". Cur­rently, courses of 14 hours per week per semester (Semester­wochen­s­tun­den) are to be taught.

Ful­fill­ment of the employ­ment require­ments accord­ing to §110a Ber­lHG; this includes a suc­cess­fully
com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) of land­scape archi­tec­ture or related
sub­ject area, ped­ago­gical aptitude and at least three years of sci­entific or pro­fes­sional-prac­tical work. The abil­ity to teach in both Ger­man and Eng­lish is required.

The future job holder must be famil­iar with the know­ledge of the cur­rent state of research in the field and new trends in design and visu­al­isa­tion. The know­ledge of design prin­ciples and best prac­tice in land­scape archi­tec­ture are oblig­at­ory. This includes the abil­ity of spa­tial ana­lyses and the com­pet­ence to develop con­cepts, plans, drafts and details at dif­fer­ent scales.
The applic­ant needs the fol­low­ing meth­od­ical com­pet­ences in design and visu­al­isa­tion tech­niques:

• Ana­logue: meth­ods and tech­niques such as col­lage, sketch, free­hand draw­ing, per­spect­ive draw-ing, model mak­ing, con­struc­tion draw­ing / lay­out and present­a­tion tech­niques
• Digital: design with 2D and 3D draw­ings with the fol­low­ing com­puter-pro­grammes: Vec­tor­works, Auto­CAD, Rhino­ceros, 3D, Cinema4D, GIS / image pro­cessing / cre­ation of bro­chures, pub­lica-tions, exhib­i­tions and Inter­net pages / lay­out and present­a­tion tech­niques / para­met­ric de-sign/pro­gram­ming / build­ing mod­el­ling / exten­ded real­ity / vir­tual space
• Hybrid: e.g. exper­i­mental design meth­ods such as aug­men­ted real­ity, cave auto­matic vir­tual envi-ron­ment / sim­u­la­tion of nat­ural phe­nom­ena such as wind cur­rents and solar radi­ation for land-scape archi­tec­ture drafts.

The applic­ant should be open-minded for and strongly inter­ested in research ques­tions and should have ideas for fur­ther research (devel­op­ment and use of new meth­ods, pub­lic­a­tions).
