Job description: An exciting postdoctoral position is available to study the role of the immune system and neurogenesis in neurological diseases with a special emphasis on epilepsy in the newly established lab of Prof. Dr. Sonja Bröer (view key publications here).
The successful candidate will use a combination of in vivo and in vitro techniques to study disease progression and develop treatments based on the findings. The ideal candidate should be a dynamic, highly motivated individual, who is able to perform independent research using the below mentioned techniques and models. The candidate will be involved in teaching of students in Pharmacology/Toxicology and legislation of pharmaceuticals and controlled substances and is encouraged to participate in academic administration. The activity serves the own scientific qualification.
Doctoral degree; Approbation in Veterinary Medicine or graduate (Diplom/Master) of Natural/Life Sciences.
Experience with rodent disease models, stereotactic surgery, behavior testing paradigms, EEG acquisition and analyses and/or FACS-sorting, immunohistochemistry and (stem) cell culture is desired. Specific experience in veterinary pharmacology, animal welfare and laboratory animal science are a plus. The candidate should have an outstanding academic record. Good working knowledge of English language is required, German is a plus.
