Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) - Faculty V – Mechanical Engineering and Transport Systems – Institute of Psychology and Ergonomics invites applications for a
University Professor - salary grade W3
in the field of Psychology of Action and Automation.
Teaching and conducting research in the area of Psychology of Action and Automation, including fundamentals, methods and applications. Experimental research in the field of Psychology of Action (e.g. psycho-motorics, perception, attention, multitasking) and application-oriented research in the field of Psychology of Automation (e.g. interacting with assistance or cyber-physical systems) form the focus of the academic chair’s research portfolio. The courses offered are intended primarily for students of the interdisciplinary Master's Program Human Factors, but also for students of other Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at the TU Berlin, especially in the fields of mechanical engineering, transportation engineering and computer science.
Candidates must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a university degree, qualified achievements in research (PhD, preferably in Psychology of Action or Engineering Psychology), additional academic achievements (Habilitation or equivalent) and pedagogical didactic qualifications demonstrated by a pertinent teaching portfolio and teaching evaluations (further information available on the TUB website, quick access 144242).
Applicants should have very good experience and performance in both teaching and research in the field of experimental Psychology of Action (e.g., psycho-motorics, perception, attention or multitasking), and/or Psychology of Automation (e.g., interaction with assistance or cyber-physical systems).
If the previous focus has been on one of these areas only, concrete connections to the other area should be visible. The required expertise has to be documented through international publications, successful third-party funding and a pertinent teaching portfolio. Furthermore, experiences from interdisciplinary co-operations in the fields of Psychology of Action and/or Psychology of Automation are desirable, preferably with engineers and/or computer scientists, as well as a willingness to integrate issues related to gender research into their research and teaching.
The successful candidate is expected to assume responsibility for leadership and management of an academic chair and its employees and should possess the requisite skills for the advancement of junior scholars and women, as well as gender and diversity competence and active commitment to knowledge and technology transfer and science communication.
Teaching is to be conducted in German and English. Excellent English skills are required. Non-German speaking applicants are expected to be willing to learn German.
