Work­ing field:

The Pro­cess Dynam­ics and Oper­a­tions Group is look­ing for a new col­league / PostDoc for par­ti­cip­a­tion in research and teach­ing, as well as the inde­pend­ent man­age­ment of a research group for fluid pro­cess engin­eer­ing with close con­nec­tion to meth­ods for mod­el­ing of flow and mass trans­fer phe­nom­ena in fluid flows, CFD, respect­ively dir­ect numer­ical sim­u­la­tion.
Spe­cific tasks within the pro­ject are:
  • Inde­pend­ent con­duc­tion of the course Ther­mis­che Grun­dop­er­a­tionen as well as sub­sti­tute lec­tur­ing of courses for the head of depart­ment
  • Super­vi­sion of theses (Bach­elor, Mas­ter) and act­ive sup­port and super­vi­sion of PhD stu­dents
  • Inde­pend­ent applic­a­tion for research grants and attrac­tion of research pro­jects (also indus­trial col­lab­or­a­tions)
  • Ini­ti­ation and super­vi­sion of research pro­jects in fields such as: mass and heat trans­fer and gas liquid inter­faces; liquid and gas flows over struc­tured sur­faces, fluid dynam­ics and sep­ar­a­tion effi­ciency in rotat­ing sep­ar­at­ors
  • Man­age­ment and fur­ther devel­op­ment of a research group in the depart­ment

Our chair is based in chem­ical engin­eer­ing, but can­did­ates from other engin­eer­ing dis­cip­lines or back­grounds are always wel­come. Regard­ing the described pos­i­tion, we are inter­ested in col­leagues with the fol­low­ing qual­i­fic­a­tions and interests:

Require­ments:

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) and excel­lently com­pleted PhD in fluid pro­cess engin­eer­ing, chem­ical engin­eer­ing, fluid mech­an­ics, mul­tiphase flows or sim­ilar is expec­ted
  • First exper­i­ence in research areas related to mul­tiphase flows, CFD, dir­ect numer­ical sim­u­la­tion, mod­el­ing and sim­u­la­tion of energy, impulse and mass trans­fer and fluid phase inter­faces (veri­fic­a­tion via, e.g., pub­lic­a­tions in related inter­na­tional journ­als)
  • Know­ledge on phase-field-model would be bene­fi­cial
  • Veri­fic­a­tion of inter­na­tional exper­i­ence, such as stays abroad, inter­na­tional work­shops and con­fer­ence attend­ance
  • Exper­i­ence in pro­gram­ming and devel­op­ment of soft­ware frame­works for dir­ect numer­ical sim­u­la­tion, espe­cially with Python is neces­sary
  • Exper­i­ence in super­vi­sion of theses (Bach­elor, Mas­ter), uni­versity sem­inars and courses should be given
  • Excel­lent team­work, cooper­a­tion in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary teams as well as com­pet­ence in con­flict man­age­ment and com­mu­nic­a­tion strategies in lar­ger teams are desir­able

We are a very inter­na­tional team, a good com­mand of Ger­man and/or Eng­lish is required; the will­ing­ness to learn either Eng­lish or Ger­man is expec­ted.
