Uni­versity Pro­fessor - salary grade W 3 (lim­ited to 5 years with option to extend per­man­ently)

for the field of "Integ­rated Broad­band and High Fre­quency Cir­cuits".

Work­ing field:

Research in the field of integ­rated cir­cuits for highest fre­quen­cies or bit rates, both in the basic as well as in the devel­op­ment and applic­a­tion area. The fol­low­ing top­ics are to be given spe­cial con­sid­er­a­tion:
  • Bipolar and BiC­MOS cir­cuit tech­niques for high bit rates and fre­quen­cies
  • Integ­rated cir­cuits of fiber optic com­mu­nic­a­tion
  • Con­cep­tion and design of com­plex HF and mil­li­meter wave sys­tems
  • Integ­rated cir­cuits of wire­less com­mu­nic­a­tion, mil­li­meter wave, THz- and radar sensors
  • Hybrid EPIC cir­cuits for novel applic­a­tions in broad­band optical com­mu­nic­a­tions and high­fre­quency elec­tron­ics".
In addi­tion, sub­ject-related teach­ing tasks are to be assumed in the study courses Elec­trical Engin­eer­ing and Com­puter Engin­eer­ing. The teach­ing oblig­a­tion at the TU Ber­lin is 2 SWS.
The "Cir­cuit Design" depart­ment, which cur­rently employs around 30 people at the IHP, is headed up in this area. The IHP is an insti­tute of the Leib­niz Asso­ci­ation in the legal form of a GmbH with a total of more than 300 employ­ees. The IHP's basic and applic­a­tion-ori­ented research con­cen­trates on the com­pet­ence fields of sys­tem and cir­cuit design, pro­cess tech­no­logy (clean room with BiC­MOS pro­cess line) and tech­no­logy-ori­ented mater­i­als research.


Ful­fil­ment of the require­ments for appoint­ment accord­ing to § 100 Ber­lHG, this includes com­pleted uni­versity stud­ies, sci­entific achieve­ments (doc­tor­ate), habil­it­a­tion or habil­it­a­tion-equi­val­ent achieve­ments (sci­entific pub­lic­a­tions or equi­val­ent indus­trial work) as well as edu­ca­tional didactic aptitude.
Teach­ing exper­i­ence, aptitude for the tech­nical and dis­cip­lin­ary man­age­ment of a large work­ing group, research and devel­op­ment in the field of fast integ­rated cir­cuits, exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and man­age­ment of research pro­jects are urgently required. Exper­i­ence with the co-design of chip pack­age and board (PCB) would also be desir­able.
The will­ing­ness to offer teach­ing in Ger­man as well as in Eng­lish lan­guage is also pre­requis­ite. Very good Eng­lish lan­guage skills are required. The will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man is expec­ted from Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants.
