Research Assistant (PhD candidate) - 0.75 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner

under the reserve that funds are granted

Working field:

The position is attached to the Collaborative Research Center SFB 910 "Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems: Theoretical methods and concepts of application" in project B2: "Control of dynamical structures and transport in driven colloidal systems". The research focuses on the control of the dynamics of shear-driven colloidal suspensions, and the related non-equilibrium thermodynamics. To this end, many-particle computer simulations and effective models shall be used. A key question concerns the interplay between oscillatory shear flow and the intrinsic dynamics. The preparation of a PhD thesis is possible.

Requirements:

Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in physics or a comparable subject. Very good knowledge in theoretical physics. Good knowledge in statistical physics of soft matter and biological systems as well as experience in numerical methods are desired. Independent work style and high level of commitment. Good command of German and/or English required; willingness to learn either English or German is expected.
