Areas of interest are:
  • Development, research, and modeling of future power trains for various classes of vehicles for land and water transport
  • Systems approach for various types of power trains, e.g. hybrid electric, using synthetic fuels, or using hydrogen
  • Measurements on power trains in the laboratory as well as in real operations, with the objective of reducing negative environmental impacts (carbon footprint, particulate matter, gaseous pollutants, acoustic emissions)
  • Economic and ecological assessment of power train concepts over the whole life cycle

Both for teaching and for research a systemic approach is expected, which links the relevant aspects of energy and drive systems technology, thermodynamics, mechanics, fluid dynamics, chemistry, electrification, etc.
