Work­ing field:

Devel­op­ment of a plat­form for the auto­matic optim­iz­a­tion of biopro­cesses using robots.
Our goal is to cre­ate the first plat­form for the integ­ra­tion, digit­iz­a­tion and com­puter-aided oper­a­tion of auto­mated biotech labor­at­or­ies.
The pro­ject will cre­ate a robot plat­form with a soft­ware solu­tion for the com­plete digit­iz­a­tion of a labor­at­ory:
1. integ­rate any data and man­u­fac­turer-inde­pend­ent devices into its frame­work,
2. uses advanced machine learn­ing algorithms that can "intel­li­gently" coordin­ate and oper­ate all robots and devices, and
3. con­trol the entire labor­at­ory from a remote cent­ral data­base.
The soft­ware is an integ­rated soft­ware solu­tion with a user-friendly front-end inter­face for the oper­a­tion of the integ­rated devices, the hand­ling of all data and the self-learn­ing oper­a­tion of the robots.

  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in the field of bio­tech­no­logy, biopro­cess engin­eer­ing, com­puter sci­ence, mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing, con­trol engin­eer­ing or com­par­able sub­jects
  • sound pro­gram­ming know­ledge (Python, C#, VB, Java, MAT­LAB and/or Lab­VIEW)
  • team player
  • know­ledge of Eng­lish lan­guage
Addi­tion­ally, prac­tical exper­i­ence would be of advant­age:
  • with Labor­at­ory Inform­a­tion and Man­age­ment Sys­tems (LIMS)
  • with the integ­ra­tion and digital con­trol of labor­at­ory equip­ment
  • with single or mul­tiple soft­ware sys­tems from Siemens in the field of labor­at­ory auto­ma­tion, in par­tic­u­lar liquid hand­ling
 sta­tions TECAN and HAMILTON
  • with model based exper­i­mental design, Design of Exper­i­ments (DoE)
  • in the mod­el­ling of kin­etic mod­els
  • with cul­tiv­a­tion sys­tems at labor­at­ory and small scale
  • in the field of fer­ment­a­tion on a labor­at­ory scale
