Apart from the offi­cial duties in accord­ance with Art­icle 99 of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the fol­low­ing activ­it­ies:

She or he is expec­ted to coordin­ate, develop and man­age the Dance Stud­ies Mas­ter pro­gramme and should also be will­ing to teach courses in Eng­lish. The appointee should engage in the inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research activ­it­ies of the depart­ment and col­lab­or­ate with insti­tu­tions if art and cul­ture as well as extra­mural sci­entific insti­tu­tions. We expect the new pro­fessor to also address gender and diversity issues rel­ev­ant to the field in research and teach­ing.


The suc­cess­ful applic­ant will cover the area Dance Stud­ies in research and teach­ing.

Appoint­ment require­ments are gov­erned by Art­icle 100 of the Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act (Ber­liner Hoch­schul­ge­setz).

Suc­cess­ful can­did­ates are expec­ted to have a dis­tin­guished track record of research in the area of Dance Stud­ies and should be exper­i­enced in uni­versity teach­ing in an inter­na­tional envir­on­ment. We are look­ing for someone with exper­i­ence in lead­ing func­tions within the area of dance/ dance stud­ies. She or he should be exper­i­enced in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research asso­ci­ations and sci­entific col­lab­or­a­tion with non-uni­versity insti­tu­tions of art, cul­ture and media. Addi­tion­ally, applic­ants are expec­ted to have exper­i­ence in acquir­ing and lead­ing extern­ally fun­ded research pro­jects.

Applic­a­tions should include a CV, cop­ies of all cer­ti­fic­ates of aca­demic qual­i­fic­a­tion in Ger­man or Eng­lish; if applic­able the let­ter of appoint­ment (please add trans­la­tions if needed), a list of pub­lic­a­tions, a list of courses pre­vi­ously taught, and evid­ence of teach­ing com­pet­ence. Fur­ther­more, please include inform­a­tion on involve­ment in ongo­ing and future research endeav­ours, joint research pro­jects and extern­ally fun­ded pro­jects, and if neces­sary lan­guage cer­ti­fic­ates. If applic­able for the respect­ive con­tent area, please give inform­a­tion on indus­trial cooper­a­tion, inven­tions/pat­ents and spin-offs.
