Technische Universität Berlin offers an open position:

Research Assistant - 0.75 working-time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

The purpose of this position is to conduct economic research within Linus Mattauch's research program on "How inequality and identity impact global climate solutions - and what economics can do" (approximately 70%). The research program is conducted in cooperation with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Research topics include normative theories of interdependent preferences, public support for environmental policy, and interactions between inequality and environmental policy. A minor part of the position (5%) will also be dedicated to contributions to the dissemination of the research program's results in public and political institutions (e.g., through blog posts, workshops, public lectures).

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed academic university degree (Diploma, Master's, or equivalent) in Economics or a closely related field (Mathematics, Philosophy, Engineering, Physics)
  • Publication record appropriate for the career stage
  • Research focus on analytical solutions for economic models
  • Ability to implement complex methods for obtaining numerical solutions in a common programming language or experience in survey research
  • Good German and/or English skills required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.

desirable knowledge:

  • Near completion of a PhD or completed PhD in the mentioned areas
  • Interest in welfare economics and philosophy of economics, as well as in policy advisory activities and public communication of scientific results on climate policy
