part-time employment may be possible, under the reserve that funds are granted

Working field:

We are looking for you as a researcher in the research project GEnEff (Novel Evaluation of Building Energy Efficiency). The aim of the project is the development and validation of a new building energy efficiency indicator that takes into account both energy use (effort) and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ, benefit). In addition to existing evaluation methods, the metric should enable a benefit-based comparison of different energy-saving measures in the future.
The project has already developed a physical experimental environment (IEQ Lab) that enables an overall assessment of IEQ. Your work will first consist of the initial operation of this test bed. For this purpose, a coupling of the IEQ Lab with a virtual reality environment has to be established to allow a combined assessment of thermal and visual comfort and air quality.
After a successful validation of the IEQ Lab, plan and supervise the implementation of a volunteer study to determine the new building energy performance metric. Finally, the determination of a methodology for the prediction of the IEQ depending on all relevant boundary conditions will enable the PhD.

Requirements:

Successfully completed university degree (diploma, master's degree or equivalent) in the field of building services engineering, energy and process engineering, mechanical engineering, renewable energies or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of heat and mass transfer
  • Good theoretical and practical knowledge for the setup of test benches
  • Good programming skills (ideally in Python)
  • Good knowledge in the field of buildings automation and/or control engineering
  • Good knowledge in the field of measured value acquisition and analysis
  • Very good PC knowledge (hardware and software)
  • Ability to work in a team and to organize
  • Very good knowledge of German or English, both written and spoken; willingness to learn the language skills that are missing in each case

Desirable:
Good knowledge of the following topics is a plus:
  • Building energy systems
  • Energy evaluation of systems/components of technical building equipment and room air technology
  • Energy system simulations
  • Good programming skills (ideally Python)
  • Work experience outside of academia
  • Flexibility; interest in new challenges
  • Ability to work in a team and to organize
In your application please go into detail about your knowledge and explain your motivation.

How to apply:
