Working field:

.
Enhancing research in the field of data-based methods in the circular economy with, e.g., the following applications:
  • Methods for the characterization and quality assurance of secondary raw materials with modern techniques (such as sensor-based real-time analysis and spectroscopic methods)
  • Process development and optimization for the recovery of strategic and critical raw materials, metals, plastics, or nutrient
  • Process development and optimization for the recycling of products (especially packaging, batteries, end-of-life vehicles, waste from electrical equipment, buildings, and building components)
  • Assessment methods in the circular economy (such as recyclability and circularity indicators)

Teaching courses of currently 8 h per week in English and German language in the fields of:
  • Data Sciences for Environmental Sciences,
  • recycling processes,
  • good scientific practice,
  • project-based teaching in the research area

  • Establishment of new, independent research areas from the acquisition of third-party funds to publication
  • Leading teams
  • Tasks in teaching administration, safety, and chair administration incl. software tools

Requirements:

  • Completion of a relevant doctoral degree in natural science or engineering in the field of recycling and circular economy
  • Experience relevant to the field of research (see above), supported by a meaningful CV and list of publications documenting professional involvement in circular economy and recycling technology
  • Proof of teaching experience and didactic skills
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of German and willingness to learn German as a teaching language is expected.
  • The ability to build successful relationships with other research institutions and partners in politics, local government, and/or industry, domestic and abroad, is mandatory and must be plausibly demonstrated in the curriculum vitae.
  • Knowledge of personnel management and project management
  • in addition, a high degree of organizational and communication skills; ability to work in a team; high flexibility, ability to work under pressure and to act independently and on one's responsibility
