Technische Universität Berlin - Fakultät II – Institut für Chemie – Technische Chemie / Elektrokatalyse – Materialien

Research Assistant – 0.67 working time – salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

Participation in research project funded by the EU focusing on breakthrough fuel cells technologies for aviation, precisely on high-performance fuel cell-based Power Generation Systems (PGS) with the power range of over 2 MW to propel an aircraft.
The research in our group will focus on synthesis of highly active and stable catalytic material for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) for PEMFC. Therefore, experimental work on Platinum nanoparticle synthesis is carried out. Furthermore, the morphology of the catalyst material is analyzed by different characterization methods. Moreover, the catalytic activity and stability is to be determined by different electrochemical measurements, and the results to be published in scientific journals.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree in Chemistry (Master, Diplom or equivalent)
  • Prior experience in the field of electrochemistry and knowledge of electrochemical measurements, in particular RDE, required
  • Expected experience in ORR, in particular experimentally but also theoretically
  • Prior practice in synthesis of nanoparticles as well as mesoporous carbon support is advantageous
  • Practical knowledge of structural characterization methods, especially SAXS, XRD, ICP-OED, SEM, TEM desirable
  • Native English and German communication skills, willingness to learn either English and German is expected
  • The position is suited for a self-driven individual who is capable of conducting demanding research projects independently
