Research Assistant - 0.5 working time - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

Working field:

  • Assistance in teaching and research in biochemistry/biocatalysis.
  • The focus of the research is to combine photocatalysis and biocatalysis, e.g. by creating hybrid proteins with novel cofactors or by applying cascade reactions where different types of catalysts are combined

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master) in biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, biology or similar
  • We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic about experimenting, enjoys problem solving and has a high degree of self-organization.
  • Knowledge and experience in cultivation (E. coli) and protein purification
  • Skills in instrumental analysis (e.g. GC, HPLC, NMR)
  • Very good written and spoken German language skills are essential to fulfill teaching duties.
  • A good command of English as well as a willingness to learn any English skills that may be lacking is expected

Desired qualifications:
  • Experience in the field of photo- or biocatalysis, molecular biology and genetic code engineering
  • Knowledge and skills in molecular modeling
