The Berlin Ethics Lab is looking for a new PhD candidate who will contribute to the further development of the Berlin Ethics Certificate. In our multi-, inter- and transdisciplinary teaching formats, students aquire and learn about reflective competencies, integrated ethics and the possibilities of shaping responsible futures through project-based teaching.
The Berlin Ethics Lab is part of the bridging professorship "Knowledge Dynamics and Sustainability in the Technical Sciences" at TU Berlin and brings together researchers from different disciplines to jointly combine philosophical reflection with technical questions. Research focuses on 1. philosophy of science, philosophy of design and technology, 2. ethics of new technologies as well as technology assessment, 3. design research and theory, and 4. philosophy of inter- and transdisciplinarity.

Research assistant - 0.5 working time - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

Participation in the further development, testing and establishment of teaching formats within the framework of the Berlin Ethics Certificate (BEC) at the TU Berlin, funded by the Berlin University Alliance. This includes:
  • participation in one of the research foci of the department through research, lecture, and publication activities.
  • participation in the preparation and implementation of conferences
  • conception, testing, iteration and scientific monitoring of courses within the framework of the BEC with a focus on project-oriented teaching
  • supervision of Bachelor and Master students
  • participation in the teaching of the department in accordance with LVVO

Requirements:

  • successfully completed academic university studies (Master, Diploma or equivalent) with a focus on the philosophy of science and technology.
  • knowledge in the philosophy of design and design research, philosophy of technology, philosophy of science, or/and philosophy of interdisciplinarity advantageous
  • interdisciplinary study profile advantageous
  • enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • ability to work in a team and a high degree of independence
  • didactic aptitude and commitment to teaching
  • very good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to learn the respective missing language skills
