Working field:
We are looking for an excellent, ambitious and highly motivated scientist who is an active researcher and teacher in agricultural business economics in sustainable agricultural and food systems and in transformation processes towards sustainability. The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of agricultural business economics in its entirety and in particular business economics in sustainable production systems as well as quantitative research methods in business economics and econometrics. Possible research topics include, for example, farm business decisions in the transformation of regional or transnational agricultural and food systems and their effects on agricultural yields and ecosystem services; innovative improvements of sustainable forms of agriculture and horticulture; efficiency and productivity analysis, investment and financial management, or resilience and risk management.
The professorship is a core professorship at the Thaer-Institute. Agricultural Business Economics is a central part of academic education in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs at the Thaer-Institute as well as in the post-graduate program for PhD students in Agricultural Economics.
Requirements:
We are looking for a person with special expertise in business decision-making and in the application of innovative quantitative methods in business economics and econometrics.
The successful candidate will have published regularly in internationally leading journals in agricultural economics and adjacent fields. An inter- and transdisciplinary orientation as well as experience in cooperation with academic and non-academic partners are expected.
We further expect experience in the competitive acquisition and successful implementation of self-led research projects.
Academic teaching experience, didactic competencep, experience in research-based teaching and the willingness to teach in English and German (if necessary, after a transitional period to acquire the necessary language skills) are required, as well as the willingness to actively participate in the university’s self-administration and the design of cross-departmental research and teaching in areas linked to the professorship.
Willingness for continuous improvement of teaching methods and for intensive collaboration within the Thaer-Institute, the Faculty of Life Sciences, and across faculty boundaries is expected.
