Due to mechanical and thermal loads during grinding different wear mechanisms occur on the grinding wheel, which require an efficient and reproduceable dressing process. Within a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), conditioning of grinding wheels by means of high-pressure jetting of liquid carbon dioxide (HDCO2) will be investigated for the first time.
research in the field of machining with geometrically undefined cutting edge, specifically in the area of grinding technology
development and evaluation of a technology for conditioning conventional and superabrasive grinding wheels by means of high pressure jetting of liquid carbon dioxide (HDCO2)
process modelling based on experimental results for the purpose of designing optimised profiling, sharpening, and cleaning process for grinding wheels
integration and testing of the developed technology within an industrial machine tool
independent planning, execution, and evaluation of research work
in addition to operational work, the tasks also include the coordination of further research tasks, communication with project partners
presentation of results at milestone and final meetings and at international conferences
Successfully completed scientific university studies (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related engineering sciences
advanced knowledge of production engineering and materials science
knowledge in regard to machining technology in particular grinding technology desirable
good knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Matlab
experience in the field of experiment design, in the operation of CNC machine tools as well as measuring and control technology desirable
experience in the field of project management
independent, systematic and structured way of working
advanced skills in written and spoken English, German at least C1
