Working field:

Urban ecology and Earth systems sciences provide the disciplinary foundations of our research. Our projects draw on various fields studying urbanization and its feedbacks with the Earth system as well as those that are practically involved in building cities such as architecture and engineering.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated mid-carrier researcher to join our team. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the field observation strategy focusing on the carbon cycle and especially on the carbon storage of urban areas.   • Ph.D. degree in experimental ecology, geoecology, biogeochemistry, physics or equivalent
  • 5+ years of work experience after completion of Ph.D. in the relevant fields
  • strong publication record in the abovementioned fields
  • track record of strong interest in carbon cycle monitoring
  • track record in working with terrestrial LIDAR
  • excellent problem-solving skills with comfort working with numbers/ numeric models
  • excellent command of English in speaking and writing required

desirable knowledge:
  • knowledge of German and additional languages is a plus
  • international experience
