Research assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

  • independent work on a research project in the field of high-precision cutting
  • characterisation and analysis of the material-specific cutting material properties as well as basic investigations on the usability of binderless tools made of tungsten carbide
  • analysis of the characteristic wear behaviour of cutting materials made of binderless tungsten carbide
  • application of immersed tumbling processes to analyse the complex interrelations for cutting-edge preparation of binderless tungsten carbide tools
  • execution of cutting tests as well as analysis of the wear behaviour of binderless tungsten carbide tools during the milling of an aluminium-silicon alloy
  • development of machining strategies for a process-reliable and economical machining of aluminium-silicon alloys with cutting tools made of binderless tungsten carbide
  • independent planning, execution and evaluation of research activities
  • participation in research activities
  • participation, coordination and organisation of research projects in close cooperation with industrial companies, research associations and scientific partners
  • presentation of research results to industry representatives and scientists at international conferences and trade fairs

Requirements:

  • successfully completed scientific university degree (Diplom, Master or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology, Mechatronics or related engineering science
  • advanced knowledge in the field of micro-production technology and for cutting with cutting materials made of tungsten carbide
  • knowledge and experience for basic machining of aluminium-silicon alloys
  • experiences in the use of machine tools in the fields of milling and turning
  • deep knowledge in the field of CAD/CAM-programming with Siemens Nx
  • extensive knowledge of production-oriented design of sample components and prototypes in the field of milling
  • experiences with metrological characterisation of surfaces and tool wear
  • independent, systematic and structured working method as well as knowledge regarding design and execution of experiments
  • willingness to work in laboratories and to carry out business trips - also to non-European countries
  • willingness to scientific work in a committed team
  • advanced skills in written and spoken English, German at least C1
