Research Assist­ant (PostDoc) - salary grade 13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len - 2nd qual­i­fic­a­tion period (Habil­it­a­tion)

The position is initially limited to 5 years. In case of a successful habilitation and further scientific achievements as well as the fulfillment of other requirements for employment, the position can be made permanent.

Working field:

  • Collaboration with and support for the head of the chair in the area of research and teaching
  • Independent supervision of theses and support of doctoral students
  • Independent teaching tasks in areas of unmanned systems, guidance and navigation, autonomous systems, safety and security assessment of autonomous systems
  • Independent research in the field of unmanned and autonomous systems
  • Acquisition of national and international (e.g., European) third-party funding projects
  • Publication of research results in journals and at conferences
  • Collaboration in administrative tasks
  • Willingness to prepare a habilitation


  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in: aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, robotics or comparable with focus on guidance, navigation, unmanned aircraft systems or related
  • Successfully completed a doctorate in the area of aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, software development, robotics, autonomous systems or unmanned systems
  • Very good programming skills and software knowledge (e.g. C, C++, Python, Matlab)
  • Research experience in one or several relevant areas including flight guidance and navigation, perception, sensors, robotic, decision-making and unmanned systems (US)
  • Experience with the operation, construction or modification of US and the integration of sensors (e.g. laser-scanners, GNSS, monocular, stereo cameras, radar), sensor evaluation and control algorithms
  • Experience with UNIX/LINUX/ROS and if applicable real-time operating systems
  • Teaching experience
  • Communication skills and experience in teamwork
  • Good written and oral command of the German and English languages

  • creative ideas for the development of new research areas and projects, independent supervision of projects
  • very good presentation skills
