Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

As part of an ongoing EU-funded research project entitled "ASHVIN" from the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme, investigations are to be carried out into the use of key parameters (so-called KPIs) as a design aid. The aim of this project is to use digital twin data to enable conclusions to be drawn about the productivity, resource efficiency and safety of structures as early as the design process.

For the project, a second position is being advertised here for a research assistant for a limited peri-od of 1 year to carry out the tasks listed below.

Working field:

  • establishment and further enrichment of a construction project database
  • develop a set of KPIs to assess and improve the productivity, resource efficiency and safety of design options and construction processes
  • automation and visualisation of this assessment process ("from data to decision") in the form of a prototype application software ("digital twin toolkit")
  • integration of this toolkit into a secure, highly scalable, open-source digital twin platform

Requirements:

  • successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in civil engineering (or comparable engineering science)
  • experience in data science (analytics, visualization, possibly AI)
  • experience in the field of structural engineering e.g. bridge design desirable
  • programming skills with special focus on data analysis and databases (R, Python, SQL, etc.)
  • very good knowledge of German and English (spoken and written) required, including the technical language in structural engineering; willingness to learn either English or German is expected
  • interest in interdisciplinary work in the fields of civil engineering and related technical sciences
  • distinct ability to work in a team
  • high degree of personal responsibility and ability to work under pressure
