Working field:

Participation in a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Transportation and Digital Infrastructure on the development of artificial intelligence based solution to automatically evaluate rail damages using test data collected with existing sensor systems. You will support the conceptual development and data engineering work required to set-up a hard- and software platform that is able to deal with the large amount of data collected, allows to build agile stochastic models, and integrates into risk-based maintenance planning support systems. The option to obtain a PhD degree will be provided.


  • successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline
  • advanced PC and software development skills
  • excellent English language skills
  • you should have an entrepreneurial mindset and be a strong, but self-motivated team worker

Good to have:
  • knowledge in BIG DATA hard- and software architectures and frameworks
  • knowlegde in data analysis using Python or R
  • knowledge about damage mechanisms in rail systems and railway asset management
  • knowledge of the German language
