CRC 1265 "Re-Figuration of Spaces" currently has a vacancy for a research associate (75%) in the subproject "INF - Research Data Management." This infrastructure project aims at a sustainable mode of handling the wide range of digital or digitized research data collected in the various disciplines represented in the CRC.

Working field:

  • Develop unified standards for data storage and file nomenclature
  • (Further) develop an integrative metadata scheme
  • Communicate with the other subprojects to foster a culture of data sharing
  • Advise subprojects on research data management (including conducting internal workshops; supervising methods labs; organizing workshops with the Research Data Center and experts on legal, regulatory, and technical questions; creating guidelines)
  • Coordinate internal data backup as well develop and establish internal secondary usage
  • Coordinate contact with research data centers including archiving and fostering and establishing contact
  • Coordinate preparation of data for long-term archiving and external re-use
  • Support researchers with preparing data for transfer to the Research Data Center
  • This position offers the option to gain qualification as a data steward.

The possibility of PhD is given.

Requirements:

  • Completed university degree in sociology or a similar degree program
  • Experience with qualitative and audiovisual data and methods
  • Applicants who have experience backing up and archiving qualitative data will be given preference
  • Willingness to become familiar with debates regarding long-term archiving, a culture of data sharing, data protection and research data management for qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods to research spatial and social order
  • Experience using repository software, particularly DSpace
  • very good knowledge of German
