The DAI-Labor (Distributed Artificial Intelligence Laboratory) at the Technische Universität Berlin is looking for a research assistant to work on a flagship project on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) for the mobility of the future. Technological innovations will be implemented as part of a holistic approach to mobility, from autonomous and connected driving, autonomous local public transport to automated last-mile logistics solutions and intermodal applications. One focus here is the digitalisation of roadside infrastructures in order to provide autonomous vehicles with additional information during the journey. The core of this is an AI middleware developed in the project. In this context, securing the infrastructure and the interface to autonomous vehicles plays a special role. This safeguarding is also to be carried out on functionalities of the AI middleware.

Working field:

  • Work on a flagship project for the development of novel applications for the mobility of the future
  • Solving scientific and technical challenges in securing application scenarios for automated and networked mobility
  • Developing concepts for the use of machine learning methods to secure IT systems in the project
  • Contribution to the implementation of AI-based security mechanisms for various mobility applications
  • Supervision of M.Sc. & B.Sc. theses at the TU Berlin on the project topics
  • Possibility to do a PhD at the TU Berlin
  • Access to an attractive research environment and a test bed infrastructure in the city centre


  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master's degree, diploma or equivalent) in computer science / computer science or comparable subject area
  • Very good knowledge of concepts, methods and technologies in the areas of machine learning, IT security and infrastructure-as-code
  • Very good knowledge of agile and object-oriented software development with Java and Python
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift is an advantage
  • Experience in V2X environment, especially regarding security challenges and solutions
  • Experience in conducting security tests, especially penetration testing
  • Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of German; willingness to learn the respective missing language skills

PhD thesis preparation is possible.
