Working field:

As a research assistant at the Chair of Handling and Assembly Technology, you stand for innovative technical solutions in handling and manufacturing. The focus of the chair is flexible assembly automation, resource planning and the process-oriented development and establishment of technological an organizational improvement.
The team is currently looking for support in the field of technical systems development. The position holder will be responsible for research activities in the area if Random-Bin-Picking. This work will be conducted in cooperation with an innovative SME.
You will be responsible for the communication other team members, project partners and sponsors, define deliverables and work to achieve them. With your knowledge and in cooperation with the project partner you will develop an innovative System for camera less Random-Bin-Picking. Your key focus will be in area of path planning and algorithms. With your experience in robotics, you will contribute to design a user-friendly and easily configurable system. You will represent the chair regionally and internationally in order to disseminate the project results. As a valuable member you will actively lead to the further development of the chair based on your personality, know-how and experience.


  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in production technology, mechanical engineering with production-related focus or ITM
  • Affinity for and experience in robotics, alternatively experience and affinity in related fields of control theory or software engineering are an advantage
  • Experience in the areas of kinematic chains and path planning are of advantage
  • Experience in implementation and running experimental test beds
  • Knowledge in production technology, mechatronics and automatization
  • Experience in sensor data analysis is an advantage

  • High level of ability for self-organization and taking responsibility
  • Agile approach to work
  • High ability to communicate and work in teams
  • Very good German and good English language skills
  • Adequate scientific language and strong presentation skills
