Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
under the reserve that funds are granted; part-time employment may be possible
The main task of this position is research in the Mobile Cloud Computing Research Group. The candidate shall pursue own research goals in areas such as Cloud/Edge/Fog/LEO Edge Computing, Serverless Computing, Microservices, Middleware, and closely related areas. These research works include the prototypical implementation of (distributed) systems as well as the publication of results in scientific venues.
Successfully completed graduate degree (master’s, German diploma, or equivalent) with a focus on computer science
Excellent programming skills in at least one higher level programming language, preferably Java and/or Kotlin.
Excellent communication skills
Very good English and German language skills (English C1 and German B2; at English C2, the willingness to learn German suffices)
Study background and/or practical experience in distributed systems, middleware, and/or database systems
Passion for new technologies, software prototyping, and experimentation with distributed systems
Detailed knowledge and relevant experience in at least one of the topic areas named above (experience in (mobile) networks does not qualify as relevant experience).
