Working field:

The Internet of Things (IoT) led to many disruptive technologies and applications in domains such as
smart home, autonomous driving, healthcare and natural disaster management. By 2020, the number of "things" that are interconnected will rise to 20 billion.
Fog Computing is used to enable a user-centric approach, using "edge" devices to perform parts of the computation, storage or communication. Fog Computing is ideally suited to solve problems arising from processing millions of distributed sensor data.
Within this research project a new system for this IoT environment is being developed. The focus is on the development of new methods and system aspects. Especially the distributed and volatile IoT environment is a source of promising research questions that will be addressed in this project. The goal of the project is to create a system that allows thousands of queries over millions of sensors. The tasks also include repository administration, system management and software quality assurance. The achieved results shall also be presented in contributions to international publications.
