Research Assistant

Your responsibility
- Design, analysis, and development of novel methods at the intersection of communications engineering, machine learning, and intelligent robotic systems
- Research and development of AI-based approaches for perception, representation learning, decision-making, and communication in autonomous robotic systems
- Investigation and adaptation of communication-theoretic and signal processing methods for cooperative, networked, and embodied robotic platforms
- Development of simulation environments for the design, training, and evaluation of intelligent robotic systems
- Software development, implementation, testing, and validation of AI- and communication-based algorithms in both simulation and real-world robotic environments
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary research teams and Startups in the design, implementation, and experimental evaluation of integrated communication and robotics systems
- Documentation and publication of research results, as well as presentation of findings at international conferences and scientific events
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in communications engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, robotics, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, or a related discipline
- Solid theoretical background in communication theory, signal processing, and machine learning
- Good understanding of modern AI methods, including representation learning and deep learning
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of AI-based robotics, including perception, localization, planning, or autonomous decision-making
- Experience in software development using Python and/or C/C++, following good software engineering practices
- Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
- Experience with robotic software frameworks (e.g., ROS/ROS 2) and simulation environments such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Omniverse, or similar platforms is desirable
- Experience with hardware integration, including sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and wireless communication technologies is desirable
- Practical experience in developing, testing, and validating robotic systems in laboratory or real-world environments is desirable
- Knowledge of wireless communication systems, distributed sensing, edge AI, or multi-agent robotic systems is desirable
- Experience with GPU programming, high-performance computing, or embedded AI platforms is desirable
- Publication record in relevant fields such as communications engineering, robotics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence is desirable
