Research Associate (PostDoc) - for qualification - 0.5 working time

The Intelligent Systems Department, led by Prof. Dr Marc Toussaint, conducts research and teaching in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. In particular, the group develops methods that combine AI planning, machine learning, and optimization to address fundamental challenges in robotics and artificial intelligence.
The group is seeking a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) to contribute to both its research and teaching activities.

• Conduct research on AI methods in the context of control theory and robotic control, with a particular focus on robotic manipulation and locomotion.
• Develop, prepare, and submit independent research funding proposals within the research group.
• Coordinate and deliver teaching activities within the group.
• Supervise student assistants and serve as a point of contact for students

• Completed university degree (Master, Diplom, or equivalent) and a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related technical discipline
• Demonstrated publication record in AI methods for robotic manipulation and locomotion. Evidence of research excellence includes accepted papers in leading peer-reviewed journals, particularly *The International Journal of Robotics Research (IJRR)*, *IEEE Transactions on Robotics (T-RO)*, and *IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L)*, as well as major international conferences, including *ICRA*, *IROS*, *CoRL*, and *Robotics: Science and Systems (RSS)*
• Ability to teach in German and/or English is required; willingness to acquire missing language skills
• Experience in conducting and coordinating research projects and teaching activities desirable
