About us
The Department of Engineering Acoustics conducts teaching and research across a broad range of topics in engineering acoustics, covering the entire chain from sound generation and propagation to sound perception. A particular focus is placed on noise emitted by transportation and machinery systems and its effects on humans and the environment.
For this position, we are specifically seeking a candidate with a strong academic background and in-depth expertise in engineering acoustics, acquired through university studies, research projects, thesis work, or professional experience. Applicants should have developed a clear specialization in engineering acoustics prior to joining the position.
Your responsibility
- Contributing to teaching activities, including courses in Engineering Acoustics, Acoustic Measurement Techniques, and Numerical Acoustics
- Co-supervision of student thesis projects
- Conducting research in at least one of the following areas:
- Aeroacoustic and flow-acoustic modelling
- Experimental methods in aeroacoustics
- Sound source characterization using microphone arrays
- Generation, characterization, and transmission of structure-borne sound - Contributing to the organization of research and teaching activities
- Assisting in the conception and preparation of research proposals
Your profile
- Successfully completed academic university degree (Master, Diplom, or equivalent) in Engineering Acoustics or another engineering discipline with a specialization in engineering acoustics
- Excellent and in-depth knowledge of engineering acoustics is essential
- Good knowledge of at least one of the following fields is required:
- Fluid mechanics
- Solid mechanics - Ability to teach in German and/or English; willingness to acquire any missing language skills
- Experience in acoustic measurements and/or numerical simulations is advantageous
- Willingness and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team desirable
