Technische Universität Berlin
Faculty IV - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Institute of Telecommunication Systems/ Communication and Information Theory (CommIT)
Research Associate
part-time employment maybe possible
Your responsibility
- The selected candidates will have opportunities to work in an enriching interdisciplinary environment, with significant potential for broad impact in terms of technology development, and industry involvement. The position is funded by the ERC Synergy project WePhICom: Waves, Physics, Information, and Computation.
- Developing of independent research under the supervision of Prof. Caire in one or more topics related to the main research focus of the WePhICom project. The project includes the close collaboration with a world-class team of co-PIs. The project aims to develop novel architectures for signal domain processing in the electromagnetic domain by exploiting the unique physical properties of reconfigurable electromagnetic metasurfaces.
- Subtasks are to include schemes and algorithms for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), and exploitation of controllable metasurfaces for high dimensional multiuser MIMO schemes, including innovative metasurface-based aperture antennas and “holographic” MIMO. The mathematical/theoretical background is founded on information theory and statistical signal processing.
Your profile
- Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and Ph.D. in a field of Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics, Physics, with specific focus on electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic metasurfaces. Exceptionally, other PhD degrees may be considered as long as they provide relevant background to the research topics described below.
- A specific experience with artificial intelligence / deep learning methods, software, and techniques, is particularly appreciated, especially know-how and experience in design of deep neural network structures and training strategies for signal-processing related tasks.
- Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
