Technische Universität Berlin
Faculty VI - Planning Building Environment, Institute of Civil Engineering / Building Materials and Construction Chemistry
Research Assitant
part-time employment may be possible
Your responsibility
The research topic lies within the interdisciplinary field of biotechnologically produced, fungal-based biomaterials, which are to be optimised in terms of their material properties. It is embedded within the Collaborative Research Center MY-CO BUILD. Standardized procedures are to be used and, if necessary, further developed to quantitatively characterize the material properties of mycelium composites and classic building materials. Another focus is investigating the durability of mycelium composites and evaluating their suitability for construction industry applications. In collaboration with other partners in the Collaborative Research Center, mycelium composites will also be combined with traditional building materials via additive manufacturing (3D printing), and their potential for novel construction applications will be explored.
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom, or equivalent) in civil engineering, materials science, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Expertise in mechanical and physical testing methods, in particular compressive and tensile strength, as well as thermal conductivity is desired
- Experience in macro- and micro-scale analytical techniques (e.g., light and electron microscopy) is desirable
- Experience in the field of additive manufacturing (3D printing) is desirable
- Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills.
